What to see and do in the area
In the Alpujarran Valley, where Órgiva is the capital, you are surrounded by breathtaking scenery. The area has UNESCO status and is great for hill walking or rambling, mountain biking, horse riding, yoga and alternative therapies.
Órgiva has an outdoor market and an artisan market, both on Thursday mornings. There is an indoor weekday market selling organic veg and wholefood products. Órgiva also has several supermarkets in the centre of town. We can recommend many restaurants and bars, all giving free tapas when you order drinks, during certain hours. Vegetarian tapas are available on request.
Órgiva has banks, ATM machines, 2 pharmacies and a health centre.
You can visit the traditional, quaint, white villages of the Alpujarra, for local crafts, souvenirs and hand made chocolates. Or the sunny beaches of the Costa Tropical. These can all be easily reached by bus or car from Órgiva.

“Casa de las Sonrisas is a perfect Eco escape to the natural beauty of the Alpujarra valley. The off grid accommodation is very private and walking out onto the swimming pool straight from your bedroom, surrounded by stunning views, is a luxury that you wouldn’t get in an Órgiva town house. I went horse riding locally and I also cycled some of the best routes in the area. I couldn’t recommend this Eco escape more.”
